A Cumbrian ‘restaurant with rooms’ is hoping to add to its trophy cabinet, after being shortlisted for the Luxury Travel Guide’s Europe Awards 2018.
Each year The LTG Europe Awards shortlists holiday destinations, hotels, travel agencies and lifestyle companies for quality and excellence. It’s just been revealed that Askham Hall’s restaurant has been nominated in the Restaurant & Bar category for the first time, pitting it against the very best travel and hospitality businesses across the Continent.
An independent judging panel of industry experts will now select the successful winners in each category, drawing from a set of ten criteria, including: service, gastronomic excellence, authenticity, and atmosphere and décor.
Owned by the Lowther family since the 1800s, Askham Hall only opened its doors as a restaurant with rooms in 2014, but has already scooped Cumbria Tourism’s Taste Cumbria Award for two of the last three years, and been named in the Good Food Guide and Good Hotel Guide.
The former home of the Earls of Lonsdale has also recently expanded its 12 acre gardens, including a newly extended Kitchen Garden providing fresh, seasonal produce straight off the estate.
Owner of Askham Hall, Charles Lowther, says, “We are thrilled to have been shortlisted for this prestigious award, which is testament to all the hard work the team put in on a daily basis.
“We expect the next stage to be tough, reflecting the incredibly high standard of hospitality business across numerous European countries, but are already very proud to have been recognised at this level.”
