The Rural Payments Agency has launched a new round of Countryside Productivity funding to support growth within businesses. Grants are available between £35,000 and £1,000,000 for up to 40% of total project costs.
The following funding streams are currently open for applications with information available at https://www.gov.uk/guidance/countryside-productivity-scheme where individual handbooks are available to guide applicants through the process.
Water Resource Management
Grants for arable and horticultural businesses. Funding available to improve farm productivity via efficient use of water for irrigation and secure water supplies for crop irrigation by the construction of on-site reservoirs.
Improving Forestry Productivity
Grants for private forest holders (managing at least 10ha of forest) and micro, small or medium size forestry contractors to improve forestry productivity through felling, extraction and adding value by primary processing of timber products.
Adding Value to Agri-Food
Grants for micro, small and medium sized food processors of Annex 1 primary agricultural or horticultural products. Applicants could include food and drink businesses and farmers in rural or urban areas. Funding is available to improve the processing of primary agricultural products to shorten supply chains and deliver benefits to primary producers.
Improving Farm Productivity
Grants for farmers to improve productivity through;
- The use of robotic equipment.
- Increasing renewables and energy storage.
- The use of LED wavelength lighting to aid crop production.
- More efficient use of livestock slurries and manures and digestate.
