13th century Askham Hall has been shortlisted for three prestigious industry awards, including the Good Hotel Guide’s Editor’s Choice Awards, the Boutique Hotelier Personal Service Star Awards

Askham is an outright winner of an Editor’s Choice award in the Good Hotel Guide 2016, which describes itself as “the last bastion of independent and impartial advice” for hotel guests. The grade I listed property near Penrith will be officially recognised at the Independent Hotel Show at Olympia next Tuesday 20 October.

The Boutique Hotelier Personal Service Star Awards also co-incide with the first night of the Independent Hotel Show and Askham’s Maître de Maison Nico Chieze has made the shortlist in the ‘Front of House Manager of the Year’ category. Nico joined Askham Hall last year following a long career working in Michelin-starred establishments in both France and England, and is responsible for the smooth running of the restaurant. He will find out if he takes the top honour at the Hilton Olympia, again on 20 October.

The team at Askham will also find out the results of a third accolade this month, following the hall’s nomination as the North West’s Romantic Venue of the Year in the Northern Wedding Awards 2015. With a public voting system, these inaugural awards recognise and reward excellence in all aspects of the wedding industry.  An awards ceremony will be held at the Mercure Manchester Piccadilly Hotel on Monday 26 October.

Owner Charles Lowther, says, “We’re excited to have been shortlisted for all three of these awards. Top quality customer service is extremely important to us and this is a key underlying theme across all of the nominations. Crucially, it is not only our peers who are telling us that we are doing a good job, but our customers who are giving their seal of approval too.”

Earlier this summer Askham Hall also scooped the Taste Cumbria Award at the Cumbria Tourism Awards 2015.  It will now go forward for potential selection in next year’s national VisitEngland Awards for Excellence.
