Eden, Cumbria, The Lake District – A natural choice for business

Gifted traders required for brand new artisan market

29 February 2016

This spring Gifted Eden, the only artisan market in Cumbria will launch in the heart of Penrith.

Each market will have a street festival feel with all kinds of entertainment from music to magic. There will always be the opportunity for local entertainers to be involved so if you know of anyone looking for a public platform please contact Beth Ritchie at Eden District Council by email: hello@giftededen.co.uk

Eden District Council’s Economic Development Portfolio Holder, Councillor David Hymers MBE, said: “This development to create a regular monthly market to enhance the fact that Penrith is a market town offers a tremendous opportunity for the participating stallholders and also other retailers in Penrith with the expected increase in footfall in the town.

“It is being supported by Eden District Council, Penrith Chamber of Trade and Made in Cumbria. The experience gained by running a pilot scheme before Christmas gave confidence that this extended opportunity will continue with its success, and regular monitoring will allow everyone to gain by the experience as time progresses to ensure that it will lead to continued and growing success. We commend our partners and past stallholders for their future participation in helping to make this opportunity happen.”

The first Gifted Eden Market will be held on Saturday 16 April 2016 with successive markets continuing on the third Saturday of each month thereafter. There are also opportunities for schools and community groups to get involved in whichever way they would like, be that through youth enterprise scheme or by putting together a band to entertain the masses.
