The Government's Exporting is GREAT roadshow is coming to Cumbria this week.
Exporting is GREAT is a campaign to inspire 100,000 more businesses to trade overseas by 2020.
Its 32-tonne campaign truck will be at The Sands Centre in Carlisle tomorrow, from 10am to 3.30pm, and at the Junction 36 Rural Auction Centre at Crooklands, near Kendal, at the same time on Wednesday.
It is only the second time the truck has come to the north west, following a trip to Old Trafford football ground in November.
Businesses can attend free events on board and get one-to-one advice.
The visit is hosted by Cumbria Chamber of Commerce in partnership with Virgin Media Business and Microsoft. Rob Johnston, chief executive of the Chamber, said: “Whilst we are still in the recovery stage from the floods, it is important for businesses to look to the future and the tremendous opportunities that exporting can offer.
“It is also important to demonstrate that Cumbria is not only open for business but we are open and looking to trade with the rest of the world.”
The on-board presentations include:
- An exporting clinic led by UK Trade and Investment’s regional director Clive Drinkwater;
- Exporting with ultrafast internet, Virgin Media;
- Technology – your passport to global growth, Microsoft;
- Mitigating your risks, Steve Cowles of UK Export Finance.
- There will also be networking opportunities.
Mr Drinkwater said: “Exports are crucial to the future prosperity of this region and our country.
“An excellent way for the region to respond to the recent floods is to get the message out that Cumbria is open for business to the world.
“Events on the roadshow truck will allow businesses in Cumbria to hear how their neighbours are finding growth in international trade, learn how they can do the same and meet like-minded businesses who can help them on their export journey.
“As the world becomes ever more globalised and digital, the potential for businesses of all sizes to reach out to new customers and lucrative new markets beyond the UK has never been greater.”
Exporting is GREAT hosts hundreds of business opportunities, available to view at www.exportingisgreat.gov.uk.
Around 1,000 new leads come online each month.
