Kendal event to encourage international links

03 November 2015

A free event in Kendal next week will seek to encourage trade links between the North West and the Asia-Pacific region.

The ‘Spotlight on Asia Pacific’ event will take place on Monday, November 9 at the Castle Green hotel and will highlight the opportunities available to local businesses in Hong Kong, China and Japan.

Speakers will be present from the Cumbria LEP Board, Hong Kong Trade Development Council and Lancaster University.

In addition, case studies from businesses who have already experienced success in the region will also be presented.

The event is being held by UK Trade & Investment North West, as part of their ‘Export Week’, attempting to encourage local businesses to start selling overseas or increase their international trade.

Clive Drinkwater, regional director for UKTI North West, said: “Export Week is an ideal opportunity for companies to learn more about international trade opportunities, and the support available to help them fulfil their exporting ambitions. Whether a newcomer or an existing exporter looking to expand, the week offers something for everyone and we look forward to welcoming you. “The countdown is on to the start of the first event on November 9, but there’s still time to book places and join us. In past Export Weeks I have been delighted by the enthusiasm and commitment to growth shown by businesses in the region – and I’m confident this will be the biggest and best Export Week yet. “Exporting helps companies to grow, and taking those initial steps to find out more can prove invaluable. UKTI and our partners in the North West are determined to help local companies succeed in the global race. We’re already working with thousands of companies across the region to do just that – we want to help a great many more.”

The event takes place from 10am until 4:00pm on Monday, November 9.
