Marks & Spencer is to open its new food hall in Penrith before Christmas.
The company has pencilled in Wednesday, December 2 as the date it will open its doors to the public.
The King Street shop - acquired from the Co-op earlier this year - will employ 60 people, including 20 from the previous store.
M&S says the 8,900 sq ft shop will have more than 4,500 food and drink lines, an in-store bakery and offer customers a food ordering service as well as the choice to order from the M&S catalogue in-store or online, with free next day in-store delivery and collection.
It will be the one of the first in the country to include the company's new 'coffee pod' cafe format.
Matt Marston, manager of M&S Foodhall Penrith, said: “This has been a much-anticipated development for Penrith so we are really looking forward to opening for business and welcoming customers through the doors ahead of the festive period.
“The fact we’ve been able to recruit people from the surrounding area is fantastic."
The shop will open at 10am on December 2.
