After years of trying to get his foot on the ladder in the ‘big league’, aspiring young businessman Ben Vollans has returned to Cumbria to start his own freelance events company.
Ben, 28, was born in York but raised in Penrith, he now lives in Culgaith.
He studied GCSE and A-Levels and Ullswater Community College in Penrith before heading to Leeds to start a new life and it was here he started his Diploma in International Events and Wedding Planning at QC School of Event Planning.
Ben said: “It becomes rather tiring hearing that you don’t have enough experience when going for job interviews with some big event companies.
“I have nearly 10 years’ worth of experience and a diploma in International Events and Wedding Planning.
“After a lot of soul searching and tough decision making, I decided that it was time to go it alone and set my own Events Company up.
“I now find myself at the beginning of a very exciting, but challenging journey.”
It was after contacting a few local businesses who expressed an interest in his business model and said it was a service they would use.
Ben has gained nearly ten years of Events experience with helping out friends and family with small events, running themed nights in bars and clubs, to organising international conferences for a local charity. Ben’s creativity, skills and knowledge have grown over the years and with a few major events in the pipeline he is excited to help other businesses in the region and further afield.
Ben’s business The Ink Events Company, aims to bring fresh, new and creative ideas and events to Cumbria and the North and plans to help other business with events they may be struggling to organise or simply don’t have the time to organise themselves. His freelance services aim to help cut costs for businesses by offering his services only when needed instead of hiring a full time worker to do the job.
The Ink Events Company was inspired and developed around the phrase “Within Ink, lays creative passion”. Ben comments,
“It really reflects my personality as I have a lot of creative passion to help others bring to life their dream events. The phrase refers to the creative passion and unique flair I put in to each event. With my bespoke events people are going to see the creative passion behind them and know these events are those one off memorable and ‘must attend’ occasions.”
With a few exciting events, projects and partnerships up his sleeve, Ben is determined to succeed, add something unique and different to the events world in Cumbria and to give the region some events to remember.
