Further and Higher Education

Newton Rigg College part of Askham Bryan College - one of the leading land-based colleges in the UK, is based near Penrith. The colleage do not only offer courses in the land-based sector (agriculture, gamekeeping, animal and equine management, forestry, horticulture and agricultural engineering), but also offer general Further Education courses as well (uniformed public services, sport - indoor and outdoor, hairdressing and beauty therapy, childhood studies and health and social care).

The University of Cumbria have a number of campuses in Cumbria including one at Newton Rigg College within Eden. Furthermore 8 Russell Group universities including Edinburgh, Durham, York and Manchester are all accessible within 2 hours of Penrith by train or road journey.
