Cumbria County Council: Have your say on Corney Place, Penrith!

15 November 2022

Cumbria County Council has organised another drop-in session regarding Corney Place in Penrith following an earlier consultation in October. Cumbria County Council commissioned a transport improvements plan for Penrith to support Eden District Council's Local Plan which looks at future development. The transport plan identifies a range of improvements to the highway network that are required to support growth ambitions. These improvements are being delivered by Cumbria County Council in phases as and when development timescales are understood. Corney Place is the most recent proposed improvement, which has been identified due to the increasing development north of the town centre and an increase in pedestrian traffic. This scheme will increase pedestrian space, create a pedestrian crossing and enhance the public realm as a gateway into the town centre. As a result of this pedestrian improvement will mean that Corney Place will be one-way southbound. Residents and businesses are invited to attend a further drop-in session, where plans will be on display, so they can see the improvements in greater detail.

The drop-in session will be held on:

Monday 28 November – in Penrith Library from 3.45pm to 5.45pm.

The consultation can also be accessed online, and we are encouraging the public to provide feedback up until Friday 9 December. For further information about this project, please email [email protected]
