Firms shortlisted for national Rural Business Awards

Four Cumbrian firms have been named as national finalists in the Rural Business Awards and two are based in Eden!

The Quiet Site at Ullswater, Dalefoot Composts, near Penrith, Newlands Adventure Centre, near Keswick, and Thomson Hayton Winkley and The Rural Law Practice, of Kendal, will find out if they have been named among at the virtual final being held on February 24.

Newlands Adventure Centre is in the running for the Best Rural Creative or Artisan Business category; The Quiet Side has been nominated for the Best Rural Tourism Business category; Dalefoot Composts, has been named as a finalist in the The Sustainability and Environmental Impact Award category and Thomson Hayton Winkley and The Rural Law Practice have been shortlisted in the Best Rural Professional Services Business category;

The Quiet Side is a carbon-neutral holiday park in the Lake District National Park, which includes glamping cabins, pitches for motorhomes and many more facilities for overnight stays.

Dalefoot Composts creates peat-free composts. The business instead harvests bracken from the hills of Cumbria to create a range of sustainable composts.
