At the core of the Council's Economic Growth Strategy is the policy to provide business support measures which are tailored to the needs of local businesses.
The Council want to get closer to the business community and understand their needs. The Council has created four unique offers:-
- See the Chief Executive or Leader with your business idea within two weeks of asking
- Access to the Eden Business Support Fund (subject to status)
- Give your business a boost with a grant of up to £2,000 through the Eden Apprenticeship Scheme
- Join a network of procurement advice to secure more contracts
The Council will be targeting sectors of Food and Farming; Agri Tech; Professional Services and Digital Media and Creative as sectors likely to create the best job prospects. Further information is available from Alan Houghton or Emily Bond Economic Development Officer or Paul Walker Business Marketing Officer.
In certain cases, often where the selected growth sectors are involved, the Council can assist with bespoke business advice.
However the Council work in partnership with other providers so the majority of enquiries are likely to be referred in the first instance to the Cumbria Business Growth Hub and the Rural Growth Network both of which can act as as the first port of call for help and advice.
