The economic programme has been pieced together following feedback from local stakeholders and in collaboration with organisations including Eden District Council, Cumbria County Council, Cumbria Chamber of Commerce, Cumbria Local Enterprise Partnership, the Federation of Small Businesses, the Family Business Network, the Cumbria Social Enterprise Network, Red Kite Innovations and several of the district’s businesses.  The new Prospectus provides an overview of the vision, direction of travel and work streams for driving economic recovery and prosperity across the district in the coming months and years.

• Inspiring Eden Economic Prospectus - which looks to support local businesses and drive economic prosperity in the area.

Economic development activities will be taken forward through 14 work streams. These include: business support, employment and skills, connectivity, the A66 Northern Trans-Pennine project, inward investment, sites and  premises, and town centre plans. The work streams also focus on a range of sectors including the visitor economy, knowledge-based industries, rural economy and creative industries. 

Following the publication of the Council’s Inspiring Eden economic prospectus, consultation has taken place on several work streams that will shape and drive delivery.

Backed by a £780,000 investment, Inspiring Eden sets out the Council’s plans for economic recovery and prosperity and an overarching vision to achieve rural excellence.

Eden firms can access funded membership to a number of local business networks, up to £2,000 grant from the Eden Apprenticeship Scheme, guidance and funding to reduce their carbon footprint through the Greening Eden Business Grant, one-to-one expert business support and access to a range of other support offers available across the district.

Inspiring Eden - Achieving Rural Excellence Prospectus 

The Inspiring Eden - Achieving Rural Excellence Prospectus looks to support Eden’s rural economy and communities to recover, prosper and thrive with a focus on Eden as a centre of rural excellence that uplifts, connects, diversifies and modernises the rural economy and community as an exemplar for rural living in a 21st Century.
 

Inspiring Eden Visitor Economy

The Visitor Economy prospectus prospectus pulls together and drives forward a range of initiatives to support this sector with the key focus being on collaboration through the Eden Tourism Network.  
 

Business Support Prospectus

The Business Support prospectus aims to maximise opportunities through joint working to galvanise business support behind a collaborative approach and secure extra resources to support businesses to recover and thrive. 
 

Skills and Employment Prospectus

The Skills and Employment Prospectus details the offers as the basis for promoting partnership working, targeted intervention as well as developing Eden’s workforce and economic base as the basis for driving economic recovery, prosperity and levelling up.
