£1m construction deal for two Eden-based firms

Two long-standing Eden businesses have agreed a major construction deal which will boost the local economy.

Waitings Limited has placed a £1m order with construction equipment specialists Taylor & Braithwaite for heavy construction equipment.

Both businesses operate in Eden, with Waitings Limited based in Penrith and Taylor & Braithwate near Appleby.

Waitings, an award-winning engineering company, employs over 100 members of staff and works across the whole of the UK and in Ireland. The Penrith-based firm has been involved in a number of significant projects, including Carlisle Airport and a number of wind farms, and is committed to using local suppliers whenever possible.

Taylor & Braithwaite employs 20 members of staff from the local area, and has seen rapid growth in recent years. The organisation has grown to become a multi-million-pound business, specialising in heavy construction equipment.

Ian Burton, Sales Director at Taylor & Braithwaite said: “As a Cumbrian myself, nothing gives me greater pleasure than knowing we have been instrumental in ensuring continued investment in the local economy. The machines Waitings has invested in will be used to support some major infrastructure projects in the county.
